Good Sunday morning folks! I can’t believe it’s New Years Eve Eve!! It’s crrraaaazzzzy.
I had a very weird start to my morning over here in the McD household! I slept in until about 8am and woke up feeling really tired. I got up, came downstairs to say good morning to Chris and started in on breakfast.
Breakfast…
Breakfast was simple but tasty! I made some of my usual microwave style porridge with old-fashioned oats and almond milk.
I added some chia seeds, wheat germ ad brown sugar and then peeled my banana to find this…
Brown bananas!!! The bane of my existence. Ohhh the disappointment. I managed to salvage the bottom half and added it to the mix.
A sprinkling of slithered almonds and I was good to go! Yum!
I took my little bowl of love to the couch, sat down, ate it all up…and then fell asleep again!!
I could barely keep my eyes open through the last couple of bites, laid my little head down and slept for a good 30-40 minutes. So bizarre!! My body must be really really tired, napping 30 mins after waking up aint right!
I had my 6 mile run on the agenda for today and wanted to get it over before the day got away from me but I was feeling sluggish and weird after my impromptu extra sleep!
I pounded a cup of tea, got changed and decided to just go for it!
Workout…
I set out on my run armed with my new iPhone arm band that I bought yesterday and my brand new Garmin Forerunner 10 that Chris gave me for Christmas. Having new toys definitely made me more excited to hit the pavement!
I definitely struggled through the first 2 miles before finding my stride, but I honestly found the whole run to be a bit of a challenge. It’s been a good two weeks since I’ve run a decent distance (I had some back pain following our little car prang) so I was not feeling in tip top shape!
But, it was a beautiful day out there and I enjoyed some quality people watching while listening to ‘The Happiness Project’ audiobook on my phone.
And, I did it!! I finished my first 10K distance and the longest I’ve ever run (I guess I’ll be saying that every week!).
I was happy to finish in under and hour and to see that my average pace was 9:09, not too shabby!
I absolutely loved having my new Garmin watch. It’s small and lightweight and so easy to use, plus the lime green is awesome!
I as usual, was a sweaty mess when I finished.
But I was proud of myself and I was excited to be wearing my hot pink running shirt that I got from Ash for Christmas! Bright pink top and bright green Garmin made me a happy lady!
I think I’ve discovered something about myself…new things make me happy!!
Lunch…
After a good session of stretching out these clodhoppers and washing my disgustingly sweaty self off in the shower, my stomach was growling!
I ate the other half of my sandwich from yesterday which wasn’t looking quite as pretty today!
The combo of turkey, bacon and avocado made my insides smile!
I finished lunch off with a my latest addiction…
I just can’t get enough of these! Yum!!
Now Chris and I are off to take our little hound for a romp at the beach, it is b-e-a-utiful out there today!
Happy almost end of December everyone!!

How weird is this? I am reading The Happiness Project too. Started it last week. Our heads must be in the same place.
Do you like it?? I’m really into it at the moment.
Love it, makes perfect sense. Only just a tad peeved the author closed the website last month. Wish I had found it earlier.
